Overview
This is a vocationally related qualification specifically designed to meet the needs of students wishing to work in the Fabrication and Welding sector. This is a full time course. -
Who is this course for?
Beginner students in full time study. -
Entry Requirements
No previous Fab & Weld experience is required. Students aged 16-19 who do not already have GCSE English and/or maths at grade 4 or above will also enrol to GCSE English/maths alongside your main Fab & Weld qualification. -
Assessment Types
Assessment will be taken in the form of online and written tests as well as practical assessments. -
Units/Modules
All three units will be delivered:
- H/501/9417 Manual Metal Arc Welding
- M/501/9419 Tungsten Inert Gas Welding
- H/501/9420 Metal Inert Gas Welding

By undertaking this course, students will be able to develop their technical knowledge and skills required to expand into a level 2 qualification in the following year. -
Careers/Progression
This is a progression route for beginners to go onto a second year NVQ level 2 Fab & Weld qualification.
