Students' Union

Keighley College Student Union (SU) has its own committee but forms part of Leeds City College SU. All post sixteen students are automatically a member of the SU. If you wish to opt out of being an SU member then you must request this in writing to melanine.halstead@leedscitycollege.ac.uk.

On students’ behalf the SU will:

  • Provide advice and support with college issues
  • Organise trips, events and activities
  • Support to create and run societies
  • Provide work experience and volunteering opportunities
  • Representation at senior college meetings
  • National representation with NUS

Whilst studying away from the college building, the Student Union have organised a number of activities for students to stay in contact with friends. You can get involved in various activities, which can be found below.

Have your voice heard!

You could run to be a Class Representative being the voice for your fellow students on the Student Council.

This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the college and have your voice heard. It also looks great on your CV. Speak to Rachel Savage to get involved or for more information.

Each year the SU have a number of paid part-time and full-time posts which are elected by the student body. You can nominate yourself for these roles each year, so keep an eye out. If you don’t want to run, your voice still matters as you have a vote in who represents you in these roles.

Your current elected officers are:

President: Jenef Ngombo
Campaigns Officer: Katrina Joines
Education Officer: Mariamou Jawara
Equality and Diversity Officer: Queenie Mark Hor Kit
Higher Education Officer: Masum Miah
Sports and Societies Officer: Idrees Akhtar
Keighley Executive Officer: Lara Duggan
