KC, CURRICULUM HERO – AUDIOVISUAL DESCRIPTIVE TRANSCRIPT

Music – A masculine voice shouting “Hey” echoes over a soft, bubbly synth melody. A snappy drum builds into a burst of funky bassline, string crescendos, claps and the voice shouting “hey” and “woo”.

Scenery – The camera slowly zooms down a bright, airy college hallway with soft peach walls and vibrant pink and blue seating. An exercise bike is in the left corner, and across the walls, display boards are covered in students’ work and information. At the end, a floor-to-ceiling glass room overhangs the hallway.

The camera zooms and cuts to focus on a student in a metal workshop. He wears a face guard flipped up to expose his face – he has fair skin, glasses and a beard, and smiles as he speaks with a tutor. The camera cuts and zooms to a science laboratory with various shots of students sitting at worktops, invested in conversation, looking inquisitive and learning. The camera focuses on a pale, peach-toned hand adjusting a microscope.

The camera moves to a beauty salon where a student with dark blonde highlighted hair and a fair, warm-toned complexion smiles as she paints someone’s nails. The camera zooms in on salon bottles and tools before cutting away to show different Keighley College classrooms and workshops, including a media suite, automotive workshop and woodworking studio. Tutors and students speak, smile and learn.

The camera cuts to a student with fair, warm-toned skin and long brown hair, wearing a black crop top and trousers. She holds a spade and scoops up mortar mix, then lays bricks as a tutor observes. The camera cuts to a group of students and their tutor screen-printing. In the centre, a student with dark olive skin, wearing a black hijab, uses a block to push red and blue paint through the screen.

The camera then flashes through additional classroom and learning scenarios, including students using tools in a workshop and students holding, dressing and tucking baby replicas into a cot. The camera takes us back to the beauty salon before cycling through previously seen Keighley College classrooms and workshops. Blue text reads “Go near, go far” in front of the images.

The screen cuts to blue. Black text reads “Keighley College” with the Keighley College logo to its left.

Music – The upbeat music ends on a crescendo of strings.

STEM

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. The subjects that help us understand how the world works and how we can shape the future. Maybe even your future.

If you’re curious about black holes, enjoy building or fixing things, want to create games people love or dream of designing iconic buildings that redefine a skyline, you’re already thinking like a STEM learner.

STEM fields help us make sense of everyday life, from the biggest questions about the universe to late-night thoughts like, “Why does the microwave heat the food but not the plate?

At Keighley College, we’re here to help you explore those questions, invest in your interests and move forward with confidence — one small step or giant leap at a time.
