CACHE Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness

This is a short course which will run a number of times throughout the academic year. Please note that there is no fee reduction on this course and it is only available to students aged 19 years and over.
  • Overview

    The qualification is appropriate for a wide range of people with an interest in raising their own understanding of mental health issues. It would complement study in a range of areas, e.g. citizenship, PSHE, healthcare, social care, counselling or public services.

    It may also be particularly useful for those working in the voluntary and community sector and for others whose role calls for interaction with the general public in their day-to-day work.

    There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
  • Units/Modules

    This qualification aims to:

    • Raise awareness of the issues surrounding mental health difficulties.
    • Dispel some of the myths and misconceptions frequently linked to mental health issues.
    • Develop learners’ knowledge of the rights of those with mental health issues.

    During this course you will learn how much mental health has impacted generations silently and has now moved to the forefront of organisation planning.

    You will develop digital skills whilst working through the tasks and modules and be able to learn and develop at your own pace with tutor support.

    Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

    • Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Working with People with Mental Health Issues
    • Level 1 Certificate in Employability Skills
