    This course is validated by Leeds City College.

    This programme is aimed at students who are either currently employed in supporting the teaching and learning of children and young people (4-25 yrs) or wishing to develop their role in this area. The course has been written with an integrated work based focus throughout. Full time students will attend college for two days per week and part time students will attend college for one afternoon and evening per week. This course will equip students with a combination of technical skills, academic knowledge, and transferable skills that employers are increasingly demanding. We encourage autonomy and independent thinking using a mixture of lectures, seminars, scenario/case study, presentations, group work and work practice. An emphasis on the balance between academic studies and work placement projects will enable students to demonstrate their transferable skills between work and college. Students need to have had experience working with children as a volunteer, in employment or work placement and will need to be able to communicate effectively with a range of people in a variety of ways.

    The Foundation Degree Health and Well-being is designed for those wanting to gain knowledge and experience of working in a health related profession. A degree in health and well being looks at health in a broad context and investigates current issues in healthcare. Studying at Undergraduate level helps your opportunities for gaining relevant work in the health sector. Employers are looking for a highly skilled workforce with relevant qualifications and transferable skills.
