The ‘golden ticket’ to the next step: Students celebrate GCSE results
Keighley College celebrated and supported over 600 learners on Thursday 20 August, as they received their GCSE results in English and maths- and needing the all important ‘grade 4’ to progress to their next steps.
Some of the students celebrating included18 year-old Philip Worforth, who picked up a grade 7 in English after being homeschooled for large parts of his educational journey.
After missing his grades last year due to issues with confidence, Philip has taken extra support and tutorials from the college before things ‘clicked into place’.
Philip can now progress onto further study and look forward to a bright future.

Another student who faced confidence barriers is 18-year-old Teegan Jones, who was pleased to pick up a Grade 4 in English on Results Day.
Teegan struggled through personal difficulties and was unable to sit through a full exam before college.
She credits the college’s ‘relaxed environment’ which has supported her to find her voice and has ‘transformed’ her confidence over her time at the college and cope with exam pressure.
Teegan has taken her GCSEs alongside a childcare course, and with her grades, will be able to progress to her career ambitions of working in a childcare, early years or key stage one education setting.

Teegan said: “The support has been amazing from my tutors. I’ll carry forward the knowledge that I can achieve anything I want to with the right mindset and right people around me”.
Keighley College Principal, Kevin O’Hare said:
“I’m proud of our students and what they’ve achieved. Whether making the transition from school to further education or returning to learning alongside personal commitments, many have previously faced a range of challenges and barriers. The progress we have seen from their individual starting points shows that students are thriving in the college environment, and it’s very rewarding to see them unlock their futures.”
Congratulations to all of our learners for their hard work.
No matter how yesterday went, however, there is support, guidance and next steps available at Keighley College.
