Overview
This qualification is designed for learners who are interested in an introduction to the study of creating IT systems to manage and share information alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not always necessarily in IT.
Learners will develop a common core of IT knowledge and study areas such as the relationship between hardware and software that form an IT system, managing and processing data to support business and using IT to communicate and share information.
This course is equivalent in size to one A Level and lasts one year.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of 4 GCSE’s at Grade 4 or above including Mathematics and English. -
Assessment Types
The course includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector. There are two main forms assessments – external and internal. -

In addition to studying your main programme you will follow a course to improve your cognitive, problem-solving and employability skills. Learners will also develop their study and research skills. -

The course will give you the opportunity to progress on to a HND/Foundation degree in areas such as Computing, Multimedia or Computer Game Design/Development.
The qualification is also excellent preparation for a career in many branches of the computing industries.
