This course runs for 2 evenings a week for 1 year 6-9pm. There is an additional I hour a week required for self study. The course is designed to develop the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to begin a career in the construction and woodworking industry or develop existing wood working skills.

Overview
This course is a practical, industry-focused qualification designed to prepare learners for entry into the construction and woodworking sector. The course develops the essential technical knowledge, practical skills and safe working practices required for a range of wood-based occupations.
The course also includes the CSCS card providing access to work sites on completion of the course.
Learners will gain experience in using woodworking tools, equipment and materials, interpreting basic construction information, and completing practical tasks to recognised industry standards. The programme also supports the development of employability skills, teamwork, problem-solving and professional working practices.
On successful completion, learners will be well prepared to progress into employment, an apprenticeship, or further training and qualifications within the construction and wood occupations industry.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but GCSE grade 4 and above or equivalent in English and maths would be an advantage. -
Assessment Types
Assessment is carried out by completing a range of practical assignments and multiple choice examinations. -
