Bricklayers build walls using bricks, blocks, or modern pre-made elements. They prepare mortar, lay materials with a trowel, apply damp-proofing, and follow designs to complete projects accurately.

Overview
Bricklayers work on a range of construction projects, from small repairs to large-scale developments like housing estates and hospitals. Employed by firms of all sizes, they may specialise in refurbishment, new builds or commercial work. Bricklayers use tools like spirit levels, plumb lines and chisels to construct accurate, high-quality walls, often working outdoors in all weather conditions. They collaborate with other trades and site managers, and on smaller jobs may interact with clients and surveyors. They are responsible for safety on site and must consider sustainability, minimising waste and using environmentally conscious materials throughout their work. -
