A level Business will give you an understanding of how businesses start, how they evolve through the making of successful decisions, and how they adapt to an ever-changing world.

You will gain a strong understanding of business by studying topics such as business objectives and strategy, entrepreneurship, global business, marketing, finance, human resources and operations management. You will also look at how and why a business is set up and how external variables influence success.

You will be introduced to business operations and look in depth at the various functional areas needed for a business to succeed. Theory will be related to real-life and case study scenarios.

Psychology is the study of the human mind and behaviour. A level Psychology introduces psychological approaches, theories, concepts and methods, and how the science of psychology works. Through case studies you will learn how to draw parallels between their findings. You will also be introduced to important issues and debates within psychology as applied to contemporary psychological topics.

In your first year you will learn about major approaches to psychology, including exploring key items of research, learning about important studies related to that topic, and finding out how research is conducted in that area of psychology. You will learn to use statistical tests to help interpret data collected in class exercises.

Year two gives you an opportunity to study some uses of psychology in the real world. You will discover how the approaches you have learned about come together to explain human behaviour.

A level English Language explores how language has evolved over the centuries, how we learn it and how it is used. Through analysis of different texts you will explore the richness of the English language, develop your writing skills and learn how to adapt text to different mediums.

Exploring the history of the language, you will learn how English has changed since its origin in around 500 AD. The study of gender, accent and dialect, as well as conversations generated by modern technology, will enhance your understanding of how language has developed. Looking at the works of renowned linguists such as Noam Chomsky and B.F. Skinner, you will study language acquisition, focusing on how children learn to speak, read and write

Studying English Language will not only improve your written confidence but will develop your ability to critically analyse texts, skills which will have a positive benefit across all your subjects and for further study.

Are you naturally inquisitive about the society we live in? Have you ever wondered how society has developed? How influential is the media on our life choices? Why are men more likely to commit a crime? Is educational failure or success a result of intelligence, or is there more to consider?

A level Sociology will address some of these questions and will help you to make sense of the society we live in and understand the cultural and identity issues which affect us all. It examines the impact of our social class, gender and ethnicity on our futures.

You will learn various skills, including the use of evidence to support your arguments, how to investigate facts and critical thinking. You will develop a knowledge of society, alongside the ability to critically evaluate and analyse information. The relevance of sociology to everyone makes your learning relevant to everyday life.

A level English Literature introduces you to a wide range of authors from Shakespeare to contemporary literature. You will learn how to analyse text, explore critical theory and express your evaluation with clarity and precision.

Combining the study of various genres of fiction with critical theory, you will broaden your understanding of literature within its historical and cultural context. Exploring important theory, including Marxism and feminism, you will learn to contextualise as well as evaluate fiction. This course encourages independent study and as such, you will increase your ability to research beyond the classroom.

A level Law provides you with the opportunity to gain a real insight into our legal system, the framework that underpins our society, and how this affects ordinary citizens. You will gain an understanding of where our laws originate and how multiple legal cases reach a verdict.

In the first year of study, you will be given an introduction to criminal law and tort law. You will also study negligence and occupiers liability. In the second year, you will deepen your understanding of tort law by looking at vicarious liability and defences.

In addition to this, you will study either human rights or look in depth at the nature of law in a wider context. This will develop your understanding of how the law interacts with morality, justice, society and technology.

You must be aged 19 years or over by 31 August in the year the course starts.

The diploma is a 12-month full-time intensive programme which is recognised by universities as an alternative to A levels for entry to many degree courses.

The course is structured with design workshops, theory and practical sessions to support learning, which will be delivered in our new creative space at Keighley College.

Funding for Access to HE courses is available via student loans. For those of you who progress to university and pass your degree, the loan cost of the Access HE Diploma will be written off. Further information on this can be provided at the interview.

This Level 2 qualification focuses specifically on light vehicle maintenance within motor vehicle studies.

The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Esports is a one year course, equivalent to an A level. This is a very exciting course and is designed for post-16 learners who would like to develop their skills and understanding of event management, sports, social platforms, creative industries and business and enterprise.

The esports industry is a fast-growing global industry which is fast growing and will be worth 3.1 billion pounds by 2025. Esports is defined as organised competitive gaming, which is human versus human, either as individuals or in teams. This suite of qualifications includes a breadth of transferrable skills that enable learners to experience esports in different areas to aid their progression to employment, directly or via further study.

Esports offers a unique opportunity to deliver a curriculum that teaches concepts in the context of multiple skills and subject areas at once. It provides an opportunity for alignment of social, physical, mental and financial skills into one qualification to deepen and expand learning, skills which are highly valued in the changing and fluid workplace. The course provides learners with the skills necessary to adapt to the frequent changes in the world of creative media. Learners taking this qualification will study two mandatory modules:

• Exploring and developing Creative Media Skills
• Personal Development.

Learners will also develop the personal and organisational skills required by employers and universities

This is an exciting, creative course which includes real life work projects incorporating design briefs, research, prototypes and final products. Learners will also develop skills in CV writing, completing application forms and interview techniques.

This qualification is designed to provide a technical introduction to digital games production. Learners develop skills in areas such as games engine scripting, 3D modelling and environment and games testing.

This qualification is for post-16 learners who are looking to progress to higher or degree apprenticeships, employment or to further education or training.

This course is equivalent in size to one A Level and lasts one year.

This course will provide the learner with a chance to develop knowledge and learn practical skills which can be used to seek employment or proceed into study at a higher level.

This qualification aims to:

• focus on the study of the practices within cyber security
• offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge
• provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical skills

The objective of this qualification is to provide the learner with an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills relating to cyber security practices.

If you are ready for higher levels, you will study GCSE English and Maths. You will also develop your digital skills.

All students experience career taster days, complete work experience or take part in a social action project.

From complete beginners to Level 2 and GCSE, our students have the chance to develop their English Language skills, no matter what their current ability. We have full-time courses for 16-19 and part-time courses for adults.

We also offer courses in Maths, IT, Childcare, Science and Health & Social Care. Former ESOL students have moved into vocational courses, higher education and employment.

This course will allow you to gain a variety of opportunities to make a positive difference to people’s lives. This course is designed to equip you with essential skills for starting work in care professions and prepares you to progress onto further study. This is a vocational or work-related qualification which allows you to have an opportunity to gain skills, values and knowledge relevant to health and social care.

As this is a 14 week course, start dates can be negotiated throughout the academic year to reflect demand and individual requirements.

Study 3 hours per week in college in adult classes.

Supported Internships are suited to students who have learning difficulties or disabilities but are able and would like to achieve sustainable paid employment.

No fee for students up to age 24 with an EHCP.

The course will give you a full GCSE qualification in Mathematics. This is taught for one 3 hour 15 minute lesson per week (including a 15 minute break). This intense course will include the expectation that additional work and learning will take place outside the classroom through electronic and paper resources.

This course code is specifically set up for students who wish to apply to do both English and Maths at the same time.

By applying once, you will be invited in to undertake an assessment which is used to grade your current knowledge and skill in both English and Maths. This is so that we enrol you on to the correct level to suit your needs.

This course runs for 6 weeks at a time and will be held on Wednesday evenings from 18:00 to 20:00. For the most up-to-date information, please ring the college on 01535 685006.

For each 6 week course, the cost is £80, to be paid at enrolment. This course is only available for Adults.

This course is suitable for those already working in the construction industry or wishing to enter it, having completed a suitable Level 2 programme (e.g. Level 2 Construction Diploma or Intermediate Construction award).

The Level 3 Diploma expands the content of the Level 2 Diploma, further developing your knowledge and skills in college rather than in a working environment.

The course itself is taught over the course of a year, amounting to a total of 360 hours. Alongside that, you will also need to complete a minimum of 30 hours at placement.

Students must complete two core units, two mandatory units and a choice of optional units.

Students will also be involved in enrichment activities in a Health and Social setting. Past activities include visits to Crown Court, charitable events and Guest speakers. We also arrange awareness workshops, held throughout the year.

At this level candidates are likely to have settled on a chosen trade, and may also be gaining some experience in the workplace in order to develop skills and knowledge to become employable in this area. They are becoming skilled in the use of the wider range of tools including power tools and have a growing understanding of materials and the importance of housekeeping. They are taking more responsibility for carrying out well defined tasks, making choices about the methods that are appropriate and dealing with straight forward problems.

The Level 2 Diploma in Sit Joinery builds on the content of the foundation learning programme in Joinery, further developing your knowledge and skills in College rather than in a working environment.

The course is for you if you are interested in understanding how technology works, e.g. an introduction of how the internet, websites and computers work.

You will gain plenty of practical experience in producing basic technology systems and products. Some of the units you study are database development, website development, computer graphics, digital portfolio and you will also develop your employability skills and knowledge of the IT industry.

This course is for people of any background who wish to progress to become electricians or seek work within the wider electrical industry.

This course is delivered on a part time basis of two evenings per week over two years. Year 1 tuition fees are £800. Year 2 tuition fee is £660. Fees are payable in each year of enrolment.

This course is suited to students who have mild learning difficulties or disabilities. High levels of pastoral and education support are provided.

This course is most suited to students who have mild to moderate learning difficulties or disabilities. High levels of individual educational and pastoral support are provided.

This qualification will broaden your knowledge of the various areas within the Health, Social and Childcare sectors. They include the roles played by workers, from principles and values through to health and safety and working with others.

This programme has been developed to meet the needs of students wishing to pursue a career in the beauty industry, with excellent career opportunities and industrial professional development.

This programme incorporates both theory and practical units to encompass a broad treatment base in beauty therapies.

This is a vocationally related qualification, specifically designed to meet the needs of candidates who want to work in the sector, providing underpinning knowledge and enables candidates to have a component for the apprenticeship framework.

This is a one year course giving you an introduction to all aspects of business.

It will give you the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge and develop skills in the business areas such as marketing, finance, sales, recruitment and retail.

It will also support progression to a Level 3 course or an apprenticeship.

This qualification is for those individuals who wish to develop their knowledge, understanding and awareness in the principles of safely installing timber fire door sets and assemblies to ensure fire door safety.

This also supports the End Point Assessment requirement for the Level 3 Craft Carpentry and Joinery Standard ST0263.

This qualification was developed in association with the British Woodworking Federation.

This two week course is designed to teach you about deaf awareness and an introduction to British Sign Language.

In this course we will teach:

• How to develop strategies to overcome barriers to communication with Deaf people
• An introduction to the BSL alphabet
• Fingerspelling your name

Sometimes known as the TAQA (Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance), this is a modern, recognised Level 3 assessing vocational achievement certification that came to replace the previous A1/2 and D32/33 assessor qualification.

There are 4 pathways available with this qualification. Please see Entry Requirements for specific information relating to pathways 2, 3, and 4.

Pathway 1: Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (1 unit that provides the underpinning knowledge of being an assessor but doesn’t cover the practical aspects)

Pathway 2: Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (2 units that cover the underpinning knowledge and assessing practically in a work environment)

Pathway 3: Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (2 units that provide the underpinning knowledge and assessing practically in a school, college or Training Provider environment)

Pathway 4: Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (3 units that fully qualify the candidate as an assessor of vocational related qualifications)

The qualification is appropriate for a wide range of people with an interest in raising their own understanding of mental health issues. It would complement study in a range of areas, e.g. citizenship, PSHE, healthcare, social care, counselling or public services.

It may also be particularly useful for those working in the voluntary and community sector and for others whose role calls for interaction with the general public in their day-to-day work.

This course is designed to equip you with essential skills for starting work in care professions and prepares you to progress onto further study. This is a vocational or work-related qualification which allows you to have an opportunity to gain skills, values and knowledge relevant to health and social care.

By enrolling on this programme, you will be helping to address a growing need for care workers and practitioners within the NHS. The course offers a clinical and therapeutic focus, including applied practice and a theoretical underpinning in accordance with occupational standards governed by the NHS, Skills for Health and Health Education England. As such, you will participate in class-based learning and an extensive work placement (460 hours).

You will develop all the skills and capabilities required to be a competent practitioner and gain the confidence to administer high-quality care. Assistant practitioners must have personal qualities such as kindness and empathy and this course is ideal for anyone who is conscientious and possesses effective observational, communication, problem-solving and methodical skills. You will need to be able to follow complex instructions and procedures.

You will be provided realistic practice for developing your proficiency in patient care, through consistent simulation scenarios throughout the programme. You will be able to learn through trial and error, allowing you to make and correct your clinical errors without adverse consequence and so improving your capabilities to ensure you are ready for the workplace.

Our pre-programmed manikins are designed to train you in the care and management of a variety of patients providing you with deliberate clinical training. When a manikin is perceived as a patient, it provides you with a realistic experience of what it means to behave like a healthcare professional. Consequently, this realism allows you to practice and acquire relational, communicative, and collaborative skills. The experience of learning using a manikin can facilitate the development of your professional identity.

Full time students will attend college for two days per week and part time students will attend college for one afternoon and evening per week.

This course will equip students with a combination of technical skills, academic knowledge, and transferable skills that employers are increasingly demanding. We encourage autonomy and independent thinking using a mixture of lectures, seminars, scenario/case study, presentations, group work and work practice.

An emphasis on the balance between academic studies and work placement projects will enable students to demonstrate their transferable skills between work and college. Students need to have had experience working with children as a volunteer, in employment or work placement and will need to be able to communicate effectively with a range of people in a variety of ways.

Health services have moved towards delivering intervention and social prescribing based on a knowledgeable and qualified health workforce to support society with the tools to empower them to make positive changes to their health and wellbeing.

This course focuses on the health and wellbeing of individuals and groups, their assets around them and how these can be shaped into a holistic support mechanism, embracing the sustainability agenda, that meets their individual needs.

Combining science and wellbeing, this foundation degree increases your knowledge allowing you to use new therapies and developments to tackle existing healthcare issues. Deepen your understanding of anatomy and physiology, explore the legal aspects of healthcare and develop your communication and interpersonal skills ready for progression. This course has been designed in consultation with health and wellbeing stakeholders to allow you to develop the relevant skills and knowledge needed to fulfil job roles that support health and wellbeing.

Our selection of modules support your personal and professional development. Alongside exploring concepts of health and wellbeing you will study complementary therapies identifying alternative approaches to conventional medicine. You will also study topics such as anatomy, physiology, nutrition, emotional wellbeing, mental wellbeing and more. With this foundation degree, you will acquire the specialist knowledge which will allow you to pursue a particular health and wellbeing specialism or progress on to a top-up degree or relevant employment.
