Designed for learners who have not yet started their family history journey, this three-hour session explains what is needed to research a family history effectively. Participants will explore online genealogy company databases and subscription options, learn how to identify a practical starting point, and establish realistic aims for their research.

The course also highlights what is and is not achievable in family history work, while introducing basic research methods and tools to help learners organise and trace their lineage. This beginner-friendly course offers a clear and approachable starting point for anyone interested in discovering their family’s past.

    The course is for 3 hours over 1 evening. Commences Tuesday 24th February 2026 starting at 5.30-8.30. Cost £30.00 per person.
