Overview
The course itself is taught over the course of a year, amounting to a total of 360 hours. Alongside that, you will also need to complete a minimum of 30 hours at placement.
Students must complete two core units, two mandatory units and a choice of optional units.
Students will also be involved in enrichment activities in a Health and Social setting. Past activities include visits to Crown Court, charitable events and Guest speakers. We also arrange awareness workshops, held throughout the year.

Assessment Types
There are two externally assessed exams (Human Lifespan and Healthy Living). The rest of the units are assessed through assignments. you also have to successfully complete 30 hours of placement, filling in a log book that goes towards one of your optional units. -

You will be required to complete optional specialist units. In previous years we have delivered units on Social Influences on Health and Wellbeing, Promoting Health and Wellbeing, and Equality and Diversity, to name a few. However, these may change this year.

Careers/Progression
Progression onto Level 3 Health and Social or Childcare courses. Alternatively, you may prefer to find employment in a care setting.
