Overview
This qualification provides the ideal introduction to the construction industry and covers essential skills in the following construction trades: bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, electrical and plumbing. All four trades will be covered throughout the year providing a strong foundation for entry onto higher level courses or apprenticeships.

Entry Requirements
3 GCSE’s at Grade 2 or above to include English and maths. Students who do not meet the entry requirements will be given consideration for a relevant vocational qualification.
If you are under 19 and you do not already have English & Maths GCSE grades 9-4 or equivalent you will be required to undertake GCSE or Functional Skills alongside your main qualification.

Assessment Types
Your progress is assessed throughout the year. You will develop a variety of construction skills which will be tested by practical demonstration of your competence throughout the course. You will also undertake a theory assessment. A project based on one of the skills will be assessed in the third term.

Units you will undertake are:
- Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction
- Introduction to Bricklaying
- Introduction to Joinery
- Introduction to Electrical
- Introduction to Plumbing
You may also be required to attend GCSE English and Maths.
