Overview
This course is for people of any background who wish to progress to become electricians or seek work within the wider electrical industry.
This course is delivered on a part time basis of two evenings per week over two years. Year 1 tuition fees are £800. Year 2 tuition fee is £660. Fees are payable in each year of enrolment.

Entry Requirements
Suitable applicants will hold or may have the equivalent of GCSE certificates and grade C or above in the subjects of Mathematics, English and either Physics or another technical science-based qualification.
Consideration may be given to applications that are not able to produce formal certificates but who can demonstrate the equivalent understanding and knowledge.
All applicants will be subject to an interview and assessment of suitability to ensure they meet the entry requirements of the course, and that the course will meet their personal training needs.

Assessment Types
Assessment of achievement is via a mixture of on-line, multiple choice assessments, assessment of practical work to specific requirements, and individually produced written assignments. -

The qualification consists of five units. The units of study are:
- 201 Health and Safety in building services engineering
- 202 Principles of Electrical Science
- 203 Electrical Installations Technology
- 204 Installations of wiring systems and enclosures
- 210 Understanding how to communicate with others within building services, engineering

Benefits/Skills
You will learn about the design, construction and testing of a range of electrical circuits and systems as found in domestic, commercial and some industrial applications.
The course includes practical workshop tasks that provide opportunities for students to develop hand and tool skills which meet industrially recognised levels.

Careers/Progression
This course offers the opportunity to progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations.
