CACHE Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care – PART TIME

This course is ideal for those who know they wish to pursue a career in health and social care amongst adults.
  • Overview

    This course will allow you to gain a variety of opportunities to make a positive difference to people’s lives. This course is designed to equip you with essential skills for starting work in care professions and prepares you to progress onto further study. This is a vocational or work-related qualification which allows you to have an opportunity to gain skills, values and knowledge relevant to health and social care.

    As this is a 14 week course, start dates can be negotiated throughout the academic year to reflect demand and individual requirements.

  • Assessment Types

    You will be assessed through an array of assessment methods: written work, posters/leaflets, peer assessment, observations and professional discussion. Witness testimonies and prior learning will also be used to assess you.

    Your Tutor will be on hand to support you throughout your course to develop your skills, prepare you for your next steps and help you to achieve your goals.

    • Health and Social Care Values

    Mandatory Units:

    • Effective Communication in Health and Social Care
    • Healthy Living

    Optional Units

    You will be required to complete optional specialist units. In previous years we have delivered units on Social Influences on Health and Wellbeing, Anatomy and Physiology, Dementia, to name a few. However, these may change this year.

    You will develop skills to care for others and the responsibilities of working as a professional in a caring environment.
  • Careers/Progression

    On completion of this course, you have a range of options available.

    You can choose to continue your studies in College and progress onto the Level 3 course in Health and Social Care or an Apprenticeship.

    If you do choose to continue and complete the Extended Diploma, you will be able to progress to University here at Keighley College or further afield. A full Level 3 Qualification is the equivalent to 3 A Levels.

    Your qualification can provide you with excellent skills and help you to find employment in roles including Care Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant and Community based support roles.

    Alternatively you may want to go into employment.
