Overview
This qualification develops the knowledge and awareness of the causes of infection and how these can be managed and controlled. It has been specifically designed for the health and social care sector and covers preventing the spread of infection, cleaning and waste disposal processes and current legislation. -

Benefits/Skills
This qualification aims to prepare learners for further learning or training and/or develop knowledge and skills in a subject area.
Learners will develop an understanding of methods of preventing and controlling infection, allowing for progression to the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. It may also allow learners to progress into employment in Healthcare settings, or Adult and Child Social care Settings.

Careers/Progression
The units of the Level 2 Award are embedded in the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. As such, learners could progress directly to the Diploma, which in turn would allow learners to register on the Health and Social Care Apprenticeship. Although not confirming occupational competence, it would aid progression into the workplace as it is an employer requirement in all Health settings.
