VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon services.

    The VTCT Skills Level 2 Certificate in Barbering is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; the creative art of cutting men’s hair, the specialist work of cutting facial hair and how to offer a good consultation service for clients. Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety whilst working in the barbering industry.

    Mature learners wishing to change or have a career

  • Entry Requirements
    3 GCSEs at least grades 3-4 including Maths and English or a Level 1 qualification in Hairdressing with the appropriate level of English and Maths. If you are under 19 and you do not already have English & Maths GCSE grades 4-9 or equivalent you will be required to undertake GCSE or Functional Skills alongside your main qualification.

  • Assessment Types
    VTCT Skills qualifications are assessed and quality assured by centre staff. Work will be set to improve your practical skills, knowledge and understanding. For practical elements, you will be observed by your assessor. All your work must be collected in a portfolio of evidence and cross-referenced to requirements listed in this record of assessment book.

    You may progress into employment as a Barber or a Level 2 /3 apprenticeship in a salon, or further progress to full time Level 3 at Keighley College.
