Salon Assistant Apprentice at Sean Troth & Scott Healy

Sean Scott is a local salon with years of experience working for salons ranked alongside the best in the world, such as Taylor Taylor in London and brands such as Tony & Guy, Saks, Hobs & Westrow. They are looking to grow their team and welcome anyone to apply for this vacancy with an interest in the industry or who has already achieved a Level 1 in Hairdressing and wants to progress onto a Level 2 apprenticeship.

Duties will include:

  • Reception (including booking appointments)
  • Meeting and greeting clients and providing refreshments
  • Advise and consult with clients
  • Shampoo and condition hair and scalp
  • Change hair colour
  • Style and finish hair
  • Set and dress hair
  • Cut hair using basic techniques
  • Cut basic gents hair
  • Tidy and clean salon area as required
  • Ideally, GCSE grades A*-D/9-3  in maths & English or equivalent qualifications
  • Subject to college interview and assessment

Framework title: Hairdressing

Level: Intermediate

Length of Programme: 12 – 24 months

Mode of delivery: Day release at the Keighley Campus

Course content:

The apprenticeship framework comprises of:

  • Work based assessment (NVQ Certificate QCF)
  • Technical Certificate – not required
  • Employee Responsibilities and Rights (workbook)
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
  • Functional Skills (project and tests)

City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 – Ladies Hairdressing:

Mandatory Units:

  • Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
  • Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
  • Advise and consult with clients
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Change hair colour
  • Style and finish hair
  • Set and dress hair
  • Cut hair using basic techniques

Optional Units:

  • Fulfil salon reception duties
  • Cutting gents hair

Knowledge Based Element:

  • No stand alone knowledge based qualification is required
  • The level 2 certificate for Hairdressing is a combined knowledge and competence qualification
