Electrical Apprentice – Harrison & Cross

Due to continued growth, Harrison & Cross are now recruiting for an electrical apprentice to join their friendly team.

The ideal candidate would need to demonstrate basic practical skills and have a logical approach to problem solving in a technical and evolving industry. The successful applicant will be a practical team player in an environment where versatility is extremely important.

Harrison & Cross are a well established, family run electrical contractors, providing well trained and professional electricians in Settle and surrounding areas.

What we expect from the apprentice:

  • Turn up on time
  • Tidy up equipment and debris
  • Watch and learn from the qualified Electrician
  • Learn the tools and equipment by helping the qualified electrician
  • Carry out jobs that the qualified electrician thinks you are capable of, they will decide this by how you act and knowledge you show
  • Follow instructions from the Qualified electrician

Course Detail:

  • Level 3 Installation Electrician / Maintenance Electrician Standard
  • Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (5357-03)

Electricians will use engineering knowledge and understanding to apply their technical and practical skills. They will contribute to the design, development, manufacture, construction, commissioning, operation or maintenance of products, equipment, processes, systems or services. Electricians must:

  • Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems
  • Understand and apply the practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
  • Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
  • Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
  • Understand and apply the electrical principles associated with the design, building, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
  • Oversee and organise the work environment

In addition, Installation Electricians must:

  • Understand and apply the principles of planning and selection for the installation of electrotechnical equipment and systems in buildings, structures and the environment

  • Level 2 Functional Skill in English

Assessment:

Observed competency in completing practical tasks or completion of knowledge based booklets. Externally set exams, both online and paper based. Assignments and detailed reports to be done.
