Travel & Events – Level 2 Extended Certificate

This course has been developed to provide the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to prepare students for employment in the travel and tourism industry. For anyone who wishes to travel the world and get paid for it, this is a brilliant place to start!
  • Overview

    This qualification is for anyone that would like to work within the travel and tourism industry. The industry is dynamic, vibrant and exciting to work in as you will get to meet and work with a wide range of people and potentially, travel across the country and the world.

    Travel and tourism has a vast range of opportunities, enabling you to work both in the UK and overseas. Upon completion of this course, you will leave with the confidence, experience and employability skills needed to thrive in the travel and tourism industry.

  • Entry Requirements

    You will normally need to have at least one of the following:

    • at least 1 GCSE at grade 4/C, preferably in English
    • a BTEC foundation certificate in a related subject

    If you are under 19 and you do not already have English & Maths GCSE grades 9-4 (A-C) or equivalent you will be required to undertake GCSE or Functional Skills alongside your main qualification.

  • Assessment Types

    You are continually assessed throughout the course with one-to-one tutorials to check on your progress. There will be a range of different assessment techniques used throughout the course. This could include assignment reports, presentations, role-plays and interviews. This will also include some external exams.

    This Level 2 qualification gives you an insight into the many different parts of the industry, from the importance of customer service to the role and responsibilities of a resort representative and the air cabin crew. The course includes exploring customer service, the role of air cabin crew and the overseas resort representative, how to display products and services, planning a trip to a visitor attraction, scheduled, chartered and low cost airlines and planning for your career in the industry.

    You will also be given the opportunity to be part of the Keighley College Events team.

  • Careers/Progression

    Provided you can achieve at least merit grades, you can progress to Level 3 Travel and Events (Year 1) or Level 3 Business and Enterprise (Year 1).
