Take your training knowledge to the next level with our Fitness Instructing and Personal Training programme. You will develop your knowledge of fitness by planning, delivering and evaluating safe and effective personal training sessions. You will explore anatomy and physiology in exercise and health contexts, as well as planning national activities.

If you are in Year 11 or 12 and are looking to take the next steps towards your career in the fitness industry, this course is for you. Study in industry standard facilities and use our industry links to prepare for progression.

Units and activities you can cover include:

  • Deliver safe and effective personal training sessions.
  • Support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity.
  • Strengthen your understanding of anatomy and physiology.

 

You will develop the following skills:

  • Develop personalised plans

You will be assessed by gathering a portfolio of evidence.

The lessons will take place in both classrooms and the Keighley College Gym.

Entry requirements are:

Level 2 Diploma in Exercise and Fitness or similar.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and ideally Maths, or a Level 2 Diploma at Merit grade with GCSE English at Grade 4 or above and ideally Maths.

If you are under 19 and you do not already have English and Maths GCSE grades 4-9 or equivalent you will be required to undertake GCSE or Functional Skills alongside your main qualification.

After successful completion of the course, students may seek employment within the industry.

You also have an option to go further and seek a Foundation degree in Sport.
