Plumbing and Heating Studies NVQ Level 2 Apprenticeship
The course is designed to allow the apprentice to develop the theoretic and practical skills, which are required to succeed within the industry. Studies will include basic hot and cold water systems, central heating systems, scientific principles and the techniques used to install different systems, which use a multitude of materials. The apprentice will also have to show competence within the following practical tasks; the installation of a bathroom suite, the installation of a boiler and radiators, maintenance of float operated valves, taps and circulating pumps and the complete installation of a rainwater system.

Functional Skills qualifications:
– Level 2 Functional Skill in English
– Level 2 Functional Skill in Math’s
– Level 1 Functional Skill in ICT

Plumber, Heating Engineer, Maintenance Team Member. The qualification could lead to a fully qualified gas engineer.
Grades A* to C ( 9 – 4 ) in English and Maths are preferable. Any prior experience within the Plumbing industry would be beneficial.
Day release at Keighley College. The day will be divided into theoretic studies and practical skills. Practical skills will take place within a workshop, which is designed to reflect an actual working environment.
For the rest of the week, the apprentice will be in paid employment within a relevant establishment. The apprentice will be given the opportunity and support to practice and develop the newly acquired knowledge and skills.
