NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Travel and Events

    The travel and tourism sector is one of the fastest growing sectors due to the increasing amount of travel undertaken for both leisure and business purposes. This rapid expansion has led to huge demand for a more skilled workforce. This course is designed to provide an introduction to the travel and tourism sector for those who wish to further their careers in retail travel, visitor attractions, accommodation, transport and tour operations.

    The qualification you will work towards is a Level 3 Certificate in Travel and Tourism.

  • Entry Requirements

    A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above ideally including Mathematics and/or English or equivalent (Level 2 Functional Skills).
  • Assessment Types

    You will be assessed continually by assignments and practical activities, including presentations and project work.
  • Units/Modules

    The units you will study will include:

    • Investigating the travel and events sector
    • The UK as a destinationCustomer service
    • European and long-haul destinations
    • Retail and business travel

    The course is designed to also provide you with an insight into the UK conference and events industry.

    The course is equivalent to one A Level.

  • Benefits/Skills

    The method of teaching used on the course is similar to university, so it is an ideal preparation for entry.

    If you want to enter employment you will gain many skills such as team-working and communication, both of which will make you a more attractive candidate to prospective employers.

    If you are under 19 and do not hold GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C, you will be required to undertake them alongside your main qualification.

    You will also be given the opportunity to join the Keighley College Events team for further experience.

  • Careers/Progression

    Students who achieve a Merit or Distinction grade may progress onto the Diploma in Travel and Tourism.

    The course will give you the opportunity to progress onto a HND/Foundation Degree in relevant subjects. Alternatively you could enter employment in various areas of Travel, including retail travel, visitor attractions, accommodation, transport and tour operations, of event management.
