The course will give you a full GCSE qualification in Mathematics. This is taught for one 3 hour 15 minute lesson per week (including a 15 minute break). This intense course will include the expectation that additional work and learning will take place outside the classroom through electronic and paper resources.

The Units covered are:

  • Number
  • Algebra
  • Geometry and Measurement
  • Statistics and Data

The GCSE course is structured to develop your logical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as giving you mathematical tools to face the modern world.

The course assessment is by external examination consisting of three exams. These exams all take place at Keighley College in exam conditions under the control of external invigilators.

Classrooms at Keighley College

Previous mathematical experience is required to begin the course. This is shown either by existing qualifications (Previous GCSE, Functional Skills) or by completing an assessment mathematical ability at the college (around 2 hour commitment).

You may choose to go on to study Maths at A Level at Leeds City College or elsewhere.
