Introduction to Teaching Assistants

This Introduction to Teaching Assistants course is 3 weeks. If successful, it can lead to enrolment on the 10-week part time Level 1 CACHE Award in Preparing to Work In Schools (Teaching Assistant) which carries a Level 1 qualification. Upon successful completion of the Level 1 Award, this can lead to enrolment on the CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • Overview

    This qualification prepares learners for further learning and training whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting. It covers areas such as how to support the well-being of a child or young person and child and young person development.

    Taught sessions will amount to 3 hours a week, and students are expected to commit another 3 hours a week to self-study in your own time.

    To gain a qualification you will complete tasks which will take the form of an assessment in class.

  • Units/Modules

    To achieve the Award the learner must complete 3 mandatory units:

    1: Understand schools as organisations

    2: Understand how to keep children and young people healthy, safe and well

    3: Understand how to communicate with children, young people and adults

  • Careers/Progression

    Upon satisfactory completion of this course, you will receive a Level 1 qualification.

    Learners can progress onto the Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges or the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
