Hairdressing Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2)
This framework provides a nationally agreed apprenticeship framework for a work-based learning route into employment for the Hairdressing industry, using qualifications that combine both skills and knowledge. Apprenticeships are the traditional way for training hairdressers.
Apprentices will be required to carry out basic treatments in the salon which will include, meeting and greeting clients, consultation and advising shampooing and conditioning, cutting colouring and finishing hair.
The apprentice will work alongside the stylists in a salon and assist them with all hairdressing services.

Competence and Knowledge qualification:
– Level 2 (QCF) Diploma in Hairdressing
Functional Skills qualifications:
– Level 1 Functional Skill in English
– Level 1 Functional Skill in Maths

Junior Stylist – Carrying out basic treatments including cutting, styling, drying and finishing.
There are no formal entry requirements, however Grades A-C in English and Maths would be an advantage. Entry onto this qualification is subject to initial interview and online assessment.
The purchase of both a KIT and a uniform will be compulsory prior to starting the programme. This can be used at work but will be required for classroom theory and practice sessions.
One day a week is spent in Keighley College learning the theory and basis of application in a supportive learning environment.
For the rest of the week the apprentice will be in paid employment within a relevant establishment. The apprentice will be given the opportunity and support to practice and develop the newly acquired knowledge and skills.
