The Ascentis Level 2 diploma in Skills for Employment in the Construction Industries provides you with an excellent introduction to the theory and practical skills needed to work in the construction industry in a variety of occupational areas.

This will enable you to make informed decisions on whether to progress with further training and employment within these different areas of the construction industry.

You will carry out a variety of theoretical learning, including health and safety, working at heights, maintenance of buildings, working in the construction industry and working on heritage projects.

The theory units you will study will be assessed via a portfolio of evidence created in College.

You will carry out a variety of practical based learning including, Bricklaying skills, Carpentry and Joinery skills, Plumbing skills, Electrical skills, Tiling skills, Plastering skills and Painting and Decorating skills.

The practical units you study will be assessed via a range of practical of skills tasks carried out in College.

 

 

You will learn a variety of different trades and techniques giving you a core knowledge and skill set in different trades and disciplines. This will enable you to endeavour in further study in the trade of your choice or start a career in property maintenance.

You will be required to develop a portfolio of evidence as part pf your theory units. This will be carried out in the college environment.

Your practical units  will be assessed via a range of practical tasks in each of the different trades you will study. These assessments will be carried out in College.

The course will be delivered in College, you will work on a carousel basis, rotating between the different trade areas.

You will be required to have successfully completed and passed a Level 1 qualification in Bricklaying, Plumbing, Carpentry and Joinery, Electrical Installations or another suitable trade.

You may be considered if you have previous working experience in one or more of the areas of practical study.

You may consider gaining an apprenticeship in property maintenance operations or one of the studied trade areas.

You may consider further college based study in one of the trade areas carried out in the qualification.
