This is a professional qualification which will allow membership into the following organisations: Complementary Health Professionals, the General Council for Massage Therapy (GCMT) and the International Federation of Reflexologists (IFR).
The highly motivated staff who teach on this programme are anticipating working with enthusiastic, dedicated pro-active students who wish to become successful complementary therapists in a worldwide market.
This programme incorporates both theory and practical units to encompass a broad treatment base in complementary therapies.
The practical elements are consolidated by the underpinning theory elements.
You will learn:
- Principles and practice of complementary therapies
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology
- Provide body massage for complementary therapies
- Provide aromatherapy for complementary therapies
- Provide reflexology for complementary therapies
- Healthy eating and wellbeing for the complementary therapy client
- Business practice for complementary therapies
Students will develop practical skills to perform a range of treatments meeting the specification of awarding body requirements.
These skills will allow students to work both independently and as a team, to gain a professional awareness in preparation for industry.
Communication and interpersonal skills are desirable for employment will also be enhanced.
Students will be assessed through practical observation, oral questioning, written assignments and end of unit testing.

Students ideally should have 3 GCSEs at grades C-D including Maths and English, or a Level 1 qualification in Beauty Therapy with the appropriate level of English and Maths. However previous experience and references will be considered.
If you are under 19 and you do not already have English & Maths GCSE grades A-C or equivalent you will be required to undertake GCSE or Functional Skills alongside your main qualification.
The qualification is recognised both nationally and internationally at commercial level and is recognised for progression to other Beauty and Complementary Therapy programmes at Levels 3 and 4.
