Hairdressing Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3)
This framework provides a nationally agreed apprenticeship framework for a work-based learning route into employment for the hairdressing industry, using qualifications that combine both skills and knowledge. Apprenticeships are the traditional way for training hairdressers.
The apprentice will be assisted to improve their skills, knowledge and understanding in hairdressing and be supported to enhance their future employability and meet the business’s needs. Apprentices will be required to carry out treatments within the salon effectively and should be able to creatively cut and colour hair, carry out consultation services, style and dress hair.

Competence and Knowledge qualification:
– Level 3 (QCF) Diploma in Hairdressing
Functional Skills qualifications:
– Level 2 Functional Skill in English
– Level 2 Functional Skill in Maths

Stylist or Hairdresser – carrying out treatments including creatively cutting hair, colouring hair, colour correction, creatively styling and dressing hair, creating a variety of permed looks and providing hair extension services.
A level 2 qualification in Hairdressing. GCSE grade C (4) and above or equivalent in English and Maths would be an advantage. Entry on to this course is subject to an online assessment and initial interview.
The purchase of both a KIT and a uniform will be compulsory prior to starting the programme. This can be used at work but will be required for classroom theory and practice sessions.
One day a week is spent in Keighley College learning the theory and basis of application in a supportive learning environment.
For the rest of the week the apprentice will be in paid employment within a relevant establishment. The apprentice will be given the opportunity and support to practice and develop the newly acquired knowledge and skills.
