Classrooms and Laboratory
You must be 19 years of age by 31 August in the year the course starts.
It is essential that you will have attained GCSE grade C or above in English, Maths and Science (if specifically required for your choice) prior to entry on the Access Diploma as these subjects are often required for degree level courses. If necessary, you may be able to study one GCSE or a Level 2 qualification alongside your Diploma.
Some universities will accept an alternative to GCSE (you must check this with your choices). Professional qualifications will also be considered. Those who do not have Level 2 qualifications will be directed to Level 2 Access Foundation or suitable alternatives as preparation for progression to Access Level 3 or other Level 3 courses.
The Diploma is designed to give successful students an alternative entry qualification and route to many Higher Education courses both locally and nationally including nursing, paediatric nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, radiography, mental health and other health based subjects.
If you are aged 19 or over and considering enrolling on a further education course at Level 3 or above, you may be entitled to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with course fees.
