    This course focuses on all aspects of sports coaching and working the sport and active leisure industry. It is a 1 year course (equivalent to 3 A Levels). It is compulsory that you will have successfully completed the BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development prior to beginning this qualification.

    It is designed to give you an all-round experience of the sport and active leisure sector. You will expand on your prior knowledge by developing your expertise in amongst other things, Nutrition for Physical Performance, Marketing communications, Sports Psychology and School Sport Delivery.

    Work placements are a compulsory part of this course and we try to offer placements in a variety of different sectors including school, community and semi professional sport based settings. The practical experience you will gain, alongside your teaching will prepare you for the next steps of your career.

    This course is backed by some major employers and professional bodies, such as: Rugby Football League, Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMPSA), League Football Education, Skills Active and Sports Coach UK. This qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers as meeting admission requirements for many relevant specialist courses.

    You will also have the opportunity to represent the college sports teams competing in the regional AOC league competitions.

  8. Advanced Apprenticeship in Childcare

    This standard develops knowledge and skills relating to the Early Years Educator (i.e. those working with children from birth to 5 years, and gaining knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years, within a setting which provides care and education for children across this age range. This Apprenticeship pathway is suitable for those looking to join the Early Years Workforce and those already working in the sector.

    The apprentice will gain both technical knowledge and real practical experience, along with functional and personal skills. These are acquired through a mix of learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training and academic study at college.

  9. Advanced Apprenticeship in Fabrication & Welding

    Multi-Positional Welders will have the skill to produce good quality welds in pipe and/or plate using three welding process/material type combinations (TIG, PAW, MMA, MIG/MAG, FCAW) and (Carbon and Low Alloy Steel, High Alloy Ferritic/Martensitic Steel, Austenitic Stainless Steel, Nickel and Nickel Alloys, Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys) covering all welding positions (Downhand, Horizontal, Vertical, Overhead, Inclined).

    Apprentices should be able to position, assemble, prepare and check the welding equipment and also receive, handle and maintain consumables. They will prepare, check and protect materials and work area ready for welding when at college. Apprentices will weld preparation and assembly prior to welding and accept for production.

    They should complete progressive and final checks on the finished weld prior to release for formal inspection and report into the production control system. Students will ensure that health and safety requirements are fully accounted for all of the above.
