The Keighley College Textile Academy was set up in September 2016 and started taking students in January 2017.
The industry requirements for machinists and also to provide the required level of proficiency in the students. We are also developing an Apprenticeship Scheme for the Textiles Sector.
Our students are given a comprehensive understanding of not only the machining side of the industry but also the fabrics, production processes and pathways available to them. They experience tours of local factories and we have just started bringing factory supervisors into college so the students can ask questions in a more informal setting.
The students have access to a range of samples and exercises from industry and projects set by the tutors. From September 2017, we will be growing our offer to include apprenticeships in fashion and textiles.
We are hoping to continue this success and grow the Textile Academy to be the best in Yorkshire, offering both industrial vocational courses and non-vocational courses for leisure. To take a look at the courses available at the Textile Academy, please click here.
