Health and Social Care (Adults) for England NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma

This qualiﬁcation develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in a senior role with adults in health and social care environments. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health care procedures. It has three pathways:
- Generic Health and Social Care
- Learning Disability
During the course, you will study a range of units that will develop and extend your knowledge. Some of the topics you will cover are:
- Promote communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
- Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
- Promote good practice in handling information in health and social care settings
- Understand mental health problems
- Cleaning, decontamination and waste management
- Understand models of disability
Throughout the course, you will be encouraged to reflect upon your professional experience and engage in evaluative and analytical thinking, you will be required to produce a reflective journal to support your practical assessments. The competencies that you acquire will enable you to assume greater confidence and responsibility within your workplace. You will be able to assess service users, evaluate their care and achievements through observations, and care plan review.
Your tutor or assessor using a range of methods will assess it. This will include witness testimonies, direct observation in the workplace, and a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task. For students new to health and social care a placement is required of 16hours minimum a week. You can also be paid and work full time in a care setting.
This course has minimum entry requirements of four GCSEs at grade C including English and Maths, BTEC L2 Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care.
For those students who wish to start the course with no prior qualifications then this will be on interview basis only.
Students will also be required to complete the Disclosure and Barring Service process. (DBS) prior to commencement on placement.
The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England).
The course will be delivered at Keighley campus.
